Look Good, Feel Good

Welcome to my fashion blog!

I can't believe I'm finally doing this. I have been batting this idea/desire around in my head for a long time...but taking the plunge always seemed like a bit of a scary commitment. You see, a few years ago, I came to the realization that I was quickly sliding down into a deep and dark fashion abyss, where comfortable, but plain and boring clothes make their home. I have always been petite and curvy, which can make styling a bit of a challenge. I had moved from Los Angeles to a not-so-fashion-forward city, where the cute dresses and stilettos I was used to seeing were replaced with jeans, jeans and more jeans and virtually non-existent heels. I had also started working at a job that required me to wear suits and very un-fun "business attire" on a daily basis. Tack onto there the fact that my student loans came into repayment with the force of a big rig semi-truck, leaving me with a rather thin wallet (a very chic and lovely Louis Vuitton wallet that I received as a graduation gift, but thin all the same), and it seemed like sustaining my love for style and fashion was pretty much a lost cause.

Still, in the beginning, I did try. This resulted in odd looks and oh-so-encouraging comments from coworkers and new friends like, "How do you walk in those!" and "Why are you so dressed up?" on a regular basis. Over time, I found myself feeling less and less inclined to look cute (after all, what was the point?)...and as a result, found myself feeling less and less, for lack of a better word, "good."

It was at one point (I think when I noticed my collection of zip-up hoodies, jeans, and athletic shoes growing in bounds) that I made a decision. Location and job be damned, I was not going to give up on my love of shopping, wearing ridiculously uncomfortable but ADORABLE shoes, and looking cute, regardless of the obstacles that seemed to stand in my way. Because for me, looking good means feeling good, and who doesn't want to feel good?

So here we are now, with the birth of my fashion blog. After a couple of years of adhering to my philosophy of "you feel as good as you look," and snapping photos of my creations, I wanted to start this blog. I don't pretend to be some amazing fashionista or living on the cutting-edge of couture. I just have a ton of fun putting outfits together, shopping, digging for deals, and accessorizing and wanted to share the love. This blog is mainly so I can have an outlet (and a way to keep myself accountable, in case those zip-up hoodies packed away in my closet try to make a comeback), but if I can inspire anyone else to make that extra effort to have a passion for fashion, despite what obstacles might stand in their way, all the better!

Happy blogging, happy shopping..and most importantly, happy feeling GOOD! (OK, that last phrase doesn't even make sense, but you get the picture.)
