Lace'n Stripes

Shirt - F21, Skirt - Target, Shoes - F21, Ring - Santee Alley
I absolutely adore this lace skirt that I picked up from Target several months ago, but I have to admit that I have been struggling with how to style it. It's so pretty and girly that I can't help but pair it with my platform mary janes every time I wear it (see HERE), but as for what to wear on top, I keep migrating back to white, black and maybe gray. None of them seem very exciting, right? Then I remembered STRIPES. It's the new neutral! I love how it can usually sub in for a white top with ease, while giving the outfit a little dash of extra pizazz.

I wore this to a much-needed yummy lunch and coffee date with Miss K. We munched on gourmet smoked trout sandwiches (I know it's sounds gross, but it was YUMMY) and my new obsession:  green tea lattes from Starbucks! After lunch and coffee, we stopped in at one of my favorite vintage shops, and I scored three new, well, new to me, gorgeous dresses for a ridiculously low price. Can't wait to style them in the next few weeks!

What are your ideas for styling this skirt? I would love hear your thoughts, since I adore this skirt and would like to wear it as much as possible! It makes me feel feminine and frilly, which is so needed some days!

At First Blush

Jacket, Tank, Booties - F21, Skirt - H&M, Tights - ?
"Blush" is one of my absolute favorite colors for clothing. It's just brilliant. It's not pink, it's not beige, it's not peach, it's not taupe. Who would have thought that a combination of those colors would make such a pretty hue? I find myself drawn to so much blush-colored clothing these days, but this skirt is my favorite. It's got such a silky feel, and its contrasting thick black waistband is like a built in belt. Plus, blush is a great winter color as well as a spring color, so you'll see this skirt remixed often in the coming months!

I wore this to a baby shower where we knew the baby was going to be a girl. Baby showers always make me want to dress a little girly (especially ones for little baby girls!), and the pale blush skirt and booties covered with bows helped me get the job done.

So, what do you think of the outfit? What's that? Really? You love it? Aw, don't make me blush.

Yes, I kind of hate myself right now for making that awful joke. I'm sorry, it's late and I am clearly sleep-deprived. And humor-deprived. I will now go get some sleep. I can not promise I will get some humor, but I will do my best, I promise!

It's Black, It's White

Jacket - Target, Top - F21, Jeans - Divine Rights of Denim for F21, Jewelry - Vintage, Booties - Steve Madden
Look at how much I love this black-and-white striped top, I've remixed it already (last seen here).  I think a black-and-white striped top is an essential wardrobe staple. There are tons of ways that you can wear it and tons of colors that you can wear it with. It looks great with bright colored skirts, jeans with a colored cardigan or jacket, or as a more fashionable substitute for a white or black top. I have a blush colored skirt that I can't wait to remix it with next.

Army green skinny jeans are becoming one of my favorite wardrobe items. This pair by Divine Rights of Denim are so great because they are SO COMFY, they feel more like stretch pants than jeans. I know I plan on wearing them a ton this season.

Ever have one of those days where seeing photos of yourself makes you cringe? This was one of those days. I don't know why I couldn't unfreeze my face. It's a new clinical condition of mine, "Frozen Face." It might have been because I stayed up late catching up with friends and didn't get a lot of sleep. Or it might have been the fact that we were running late for brunch and I was feeling rushed. Or it quite possibly might have been the fact that my boyfriend was squatting in the middle of a street with cars whizzing by as he tried to take these photos, and I feared for his life. No, wait. I remember now. It was because I was hungry. Silly me, I should have known. Being hungry always gives me Frozen Face. Not to mention Grumpy Attitude. And Irritable Snapping. Hm. Maybe I really should just make sure I'm well fed at all times.
