For the Cause

Top - Vintage, Skirt - Banana Republic, Shoes - Anne Klein, Ring - ModCloth

Raise your hand if you've been a bad blogger this week. I'm raising my hand, I swear.

I'm so sorry that my posts have been lagging. I mentioned it before, but my new job has been seriously tiring me out. Plus I've been making wedding favors for a friend of mine who is getting married next week (check out my soap-making business here) AND I've been preparing for another trip to Vegas this weekend. *Gasp* I know. 'Tis the season for bachelorette parties and vacations and weekend getaways, I guess! Anyway, I promise to be back on track next week. Especially if I hit a jackpot in Vegas, retire from my job, and buy out the Caesar's Forum Shops. It could happen, people.

I know it's been a while since I've posted a work outfit on this blog. For those of you who don't remember, I work in the fashion-backward corporate world where black and navy are considered bright colors and "conservative" is the preferred description for style (yuck). I'm always trying to push the fashion envelope at work without looking unprofessional. This means that I save most of my "fun" outfits for evenings and weekends, but I try to sneak in some flavor whenever I can during the 9 to 5. Somebody's got to shake up corporate America, right? That's right. Some people fight crime, some people fight discrimination, I fight boring clothing. Everyone's got a cause. Don't judge.

I love this vintage tie blouse and pencil skirt combo. It's a great outfit for a curvy girl, and it's great for work because it looks professional but also chic and polished. I also love how this shirt and skirt can work for both playtime and the office (as you can see here). Clothes that double your wardrobe are a great find. I may not have been the best at math, but I at least know that two is better than one.

Have a great weekend!

Oh, my husband always wishes he could hit the lotto. He dreams about it. I like this professional look. Even though these are 'blander' colors they do look great together.

I like this outfit! I hear you on the boring business attire- I'm not in the corporate world, my office dress code is business casual- but everytime I wear something with color or a shoe with heels, every one is like "why are you so dressed up?" - its awkward.

@Jenn Thanks, girl! And I hope your husband wins the lotto. Then you can buy all the anthro you want! :)
@Liv OMG, "why are you so dressed up?" is one of my least favorite questions, and I hear it all the time!

This is such a cute outfit! I love the colors - blue and gray look soooo good together. Your blog title made me laugh so hard when I came across it - I love it! These outfits are the same styles as what I wear to work, so it's nice to get some inspiration.

Thank you ladies! Aw, you guys just made my week. @smalltownbigwardrobe I'm glad you like the title! It's what I used to tell my boyfriend all the time when he would complain about all the shopping. :)
